Draft 2

'Say Cheese'

For the first assignment in our Minor in Writing Introductory class, we were asked to reflect on what it is that prompts us to write.  Or more simply put, why we write.

This small question began to haunt me at night as I realized that I do not have a concrete answer.  I write because I want to, because I am forced to, and because it allows me to speak even when no one is listening.

Most of all, though, I write because I have a passion for pictures.  I love capturing beautiful moments in life, and I love the way that writing constructs images and fairytale worlds through black and white text.

Although this is an abstract way to view writing, my wild imagination has allowed writing to become more than just words to me over the years.
